ESMOD Berlin Graduate Show / Eisenhalle BMW Berlin

Last week I attended the graduate fashion show of the third years at ESMOD International University of Art for Fashion at Eisenhalle BMW in Moabit. ESMOD is an international chain of fashion schools existing throughout 23 countries teaching in Bachelor and Master Degrees combining fashion design and tailoring. ESMOD Berlin has also recently started teaching a Masters in Sustainable Fashion course which takes a holistic approach to social consciousness within fashion design. The show was extremely professional and with some impressive collections. Find them on Facebook to see more of their projects.

The set up!

DMY Opening at Tempelhof, Berlin

Last night opened the DMY Berlin International Design Festival at Tempelhof airport in Neukรถlln. DMY is an annual festival showcasing the work of young and emerging designers with a core exhibition at the iconic Tempelhof Airport which closed as an airport in 2008. With hundreds of designers, and a diverse program of off-site exhibitions, open studios (like mine), talks and a variety of presentations, it seems like too much just for four days! The work on display ranged from great to excellent! Below are a few photos of the opening and some things I like.

AND I saw an excellent show recently by German artist Claas Gutsche at Wager + Partner Gallery of new works by the artist called Drama und Romantik. Claas works primarily in large scale prints, often lino cuts, sometimes up to 2m by 2.5m, of intricately detailed images of German suburbia. Ominous, romantic, sinister, his work is technically ambitious and supremely executed, and quite possibly some of the most impressive work I have seen. He's a babe too which doesn't hurt. Check out his website here.
